Best Website Builder for Therapists in Canada
Part of our guide to therapist website that converts. Related: convert therapy inquiries into clients · therapist website cost in Canada.
If you are choosing a website builder for a therapy or allied health practice in Canada, the useful question is not which brand has the prettiest templates. It is which stack matches your booking tools, your College constraints, and how fast a prospective client needs to book.
This comparison covers Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, Jane Websites, Brighter Vision, and a custom build. Vendor prices below were checked against public pricing pages in September 2026. They change. Confirm at checkout. Currency and tax depend on billing address. Where a CAD figure could not be locked from the vendor's own page, that is flagged.

For cost bands across DIY through agency, see therapist website cost in Canada.
When you should not hire anyone
A solo therapist with three clients and no waitlist does not need a custom build. You need a clean one-page or thin site with fees, format, geography, and a way to inquire or book. Squarespace, Wix, or Jane Websites can be enough while caseload is the constraint.
Hire help when one of these is true: you are losing inquiries to Psychology Today because your site is vaguer than a directory profile; you need per-issue or per-clinician architecture; you are migrating off a platform and need redirects done properly; or you will not finish a DIY project in the next month of real calendar time.
Saying that out loud is the filter. Everything below assumes you have decided you need a real site, not a placeholder.
Squarespace
Public pricing (check current): Squarespace lists website plans on squarespace.com/pricing. US annual-billing list prices in 2026 reviews commonly show Basic around USD $16/mo, Core around USD $23/mo, Plus around USD $39/mo, and Advanced around USD $99/mo, with higher month-to-month rates. Canadian checkout can localize. Flag: we could not treat a single CAD list as authoritative from Squarespace's own page in this pass. Use the price shown at Canadian checkout.
SEO ceiling: Solid for a small brochure site. Weak if you need a large condition or issue map, fine-grained URL control, and ongoing technical SEO without workarounds.
Booking: Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity) is a separate product for many setups. Jane embeds are possible but clunkier than a native clinic stack.
Suits: Solo therapists who will write their own pages and want a polished template fast.
Breaks: Group practices with many clinician URLs, CRPO-sensitive copy that needs custom page types, and migrations where you later want full code ownership.
Wix
Public pricing (check current): Wix lists Premium plans on wix.com/plans. Common US annual-billing list prices in 2026 materials: Light about USD $17/mo, Core about USD $29/mo, Business about USD $39/mo, Business Elite about USD $159/mo. Prices and currency vary by location. Confirm CAD and tax at checkout.
SEO ceiling: Better than its reputation from a decade ago, still awkward for complex IA and clean long-term technical SEO compared with a well-built custom or WordPress site.
Booking: Apps and embeds work. Native clinic EMR sync is not the point of Wix.
Suits: Owners who like drag-and-drop and will live inside the Wix editor.
Breaks: Export and migration pain. If you outgrow Wix, plan redirects carefully. See the migration section below.
WordPress
Public pricing: There is no single WordPress price. You pay hosting (often about CAD $10 to $40+/month for small business hosting), a theme or page builder, plugins, and optionally a developer. Managed WordPress hosts cost more.
SEO ceiling: Highest of the DIY-capable options when configured well. Also the easiest to misconfigure.
Booking: Strong plugin and embed options for Jane, Owl, SimplePractice, and forms.
Suits: Practices that want ownership and flexibility and either have a technical owner or a maintainer on call.
Breaks: Plugin sprawl, neglected updates, and "my cousin's friend built it" sites with no documentation.
Jane Websites
Public pricing (verified): Jane states a Jane Website is $59 per month, setup free until launch, not included in the standard Jane subscription. Source: jane.app/features/websites (September 2026). Confirm currency and tax for your account.
SEO ceiling: Jane describes core SEO foundations and an optional SEO Booster add-on. Fine for clinics that live inside Jane. Not a substitute for a large custom content program.
Booking: Best-in-class if Jane is already your EMR. Daily sync of services and practitioners is the product.
Suits: Jane clinics that want a site without a separate stack.
Breaks: You are renting the website layer. Full content migration into Jane Websites is limited per Jane's own FAQ. Custom code ownership is not the model.
Brighter Vision
Public pricing (verified): pricing.brightervision.com listed Start $99/month, Grow $125/month, Flourish $349/month on monthly billing, with a $100 setup fee on Start/Grow. Annual billing showed Start $78/month and Grow $99/month (Flourish annual list varied across page sections; confirm on the live page). Thrive and Prosper are sales-led. Currency appears USD-oriented on the public page. Flag: confirm CAD total and tax for Canadian practices at signup.
SEO ceiling: Marketed as therapist-specific with optional SEO packages on higher tiers.
Booking: Oriented to US therapist tooling and directory add-ons on higher plans. Validate Jane or Canadian EMR fit before you assume parity.
Suits: Therapists who want a handled therapist-template subscription and will stay on that platform.
Breaks: Ongoing subscription for the site itself; Canadian regulatory and booking fit needs a hard check; leaving means another migration.
Custom build (including Allied Edge)
Public pricing (Allied Edge): Custom Website $2,495 one-time, you own the code. Managed Website $495 setup + $2,690/year or $249/month, 12-month initial term. Up to 10 pages, extra pages $250. CAD. HST at checkout. See website creation.
SEO ceiling: Highest when the IA matches the discipline (per-issue therapy pages, assessment vs therapy split for psychology, condition pages for physio/chiro, thin booking-first for RMT).
Booking: Integrate the tools the clinic already uses. For therapists that is usually Jane, Owl Practice, or SimplePractice.
Suits: Practices that need architecture, College-aware structure, and a conversion path that can compete with directories.
Breaks: Overkill for a three-client solo who has not validated demand. Wrong hire if you only need a placeholder.
Discipline pages:
- Website design for therapists
- Psychology practice website design
- Physiotherapy clinic website design
- Chiropractic website design
- Massage therapy clinic website design
Moving off Wix or Squarespace without losing rankings
- Inventory URLs. Export every live URL that has traffic or backlinks.
- Map one-to-one. Old
/aboutto new/about/, old service URLs to the closest new service URL. Prefer keeping paths when the new IA allows it. - 301 redirects. Implement server or platform redirects before DNS cutover. Test them.
- What actually gets lost. Platform-only apps, some form backends, and editor history do not move. Rankings that depended on thin duplicate pages may drop even with perfect redirects because the content quality changed.
- Search Console. Update property settings, submit the new sitemap, watch coverage and 404s for several weeks.
- GBP and citations. Point the website field on your Google Business Profile and major directories to the new domain or final URL.
A migration is a project. Price it. Do not treat "we will copy the text into a new template" as the whole job.
Practical pick
| Situation | Sensible default |
|---|---|
| Solo, early caseload, Jane user | Jane Websites or a thin Squarespace site |
| Solo, not on Jane, will DIY | Squarespace or Wix |
| Want ownership and can maintain | WordPress with a maintainer |
| Want therapist subscription vendor | Brighter Vision only after Canadian booking/regulatory fit check |
| Need discipline IA and conversion against directories | Custom build (website creation) |
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best website builder for therapists in Canada?
There is no single winner. Jane Websites win on booking sync for Jane clinics. Squarespace and Wix win on DIY speed. WordPress wins on flexibility if maintained. Custom wins when architecture and conversion matter more than template speed.
Is Brighter Vision worth it in Canada?
Only if the subscription model fits and your booking stack works with it. Verify pricing and tooling on Brighter Vision's pricing page and ask about Jane or your EMR before you pay a setup fee.
Can I use Wix and still rank locally?
You can appear, especially when Google Business Profile does the heavy lifting. Local pack performance is mostly GBP, reviews, and proximity. The website still has to convert the click and support organic long-tail pages.
How do I leave Squarespace without tanking SEO?
Map URLs, set 301s, keep content quality equal or better, and monitor Search Console. See the migration section above.
How does Allied Edge compare on price?
Custom Website is $2,495 one-time with code ownership. Managed Website is a hosted care plan with published setup and monthly or annual fees. Compare that to years of Brighter Vision or Jane Websites subscription math and to DIY owner time, not only to the first month's platform fee.
